Instructions
This guide will take you through the assembly of a Rite 3, perfect for tools and garden equipment. All Storite sheds come with their own set of instructions.
Always check with your council in case building consent is required.
Getting Started
Check the contents of the pack against the checklist provided. The kit comes with pop rivets and screws so you have a choice.
Using a couple of saw horses to lay the panels across will make the job a lot easier.
Door
Attach top and bottom door channels and rivet at the centre ribs only.
Attach side channels and x at all four corners.
Turn the door over and x at all four corners on this side as well.
Fix down the door sides with four rivets on each edge.
Turn the door back over again and attach the door strap at the centre of the door sheet. Slip it under the channel and x it at each end.
To fix the hinges measure 120mm from each end. Fix the centre rivet rst.
On the inside of the door x the door braces. They run from the top and bottom of the hinged side of the door. Fix at ends and centre. You may need to cut or bend the ange at the top or bottom if it catches on the doorjamb when opened.
Front Wall
Attach the doorjamb to the front wall sheets.
Attach the door to the front wall. Measure 30mm from the top and bottom. Fix the centre rivet of each hinge first and remember to leave a small gap between the wall and door to allow for the hinge.
Fix the channels to the top and bottom of the front wall and rivet each corner from the outside. Make sure the high side of the channel is on the inside of the shed.
Use the door spacer to determine the correct opening size by placing it on the bottom flange of the doorjambs and x it in place with a rivet in the centre.
Then rivet every second rib in between.
On the underside place one rivet at each end of the doorjamb up through the channel, doorjamb and spacer. It’s important to include these rivets as they are structural.
Do the same at the other end.
Attach the bolt to the door.
Stay Safe Hint
The use of power tools makes the completion of projects much easier, but appropriate safety equipment when using power tools is highly recommended.
Ear protection, eyewear and sturdy footwear should be considered the minimum requirement when using power tools and always use a residual current device when using electric power tools.
Sides & Back
Lay out the sheets so the last ribs are overlapping (the number of sheets will be determined by the size of the shed you are assembling). Make sure the ends are flush and attach two equally spaced rivets through the overlapping ribs.
Attach top and bottom channels.
Fix at corners and then every second rib.
You also need to x at least one rivet up through the underside of the channel in each sheet.
Roof
Assemble the sheets and attach channels but do not rivet at the corners.
Place the short ange of the L ashing on top of the rib and rivet in the centre.
Now you can rivet the corners and then place one more rivet between each corner and the centre.
Repeat this step with the ange for the other side of the roof.
Putting It All Together
Give each panel a shake to get rid of llings that could rust and reduce the lifespan of your shed.
Stand up the back wall then bring in the left wall and x from the outside about 100mm down from the top and 100mm up from the bottom.
Do the same with the right hand wall, checking to make sure the walls are sitting at on the bottom.
Position the front wall in place and attach the same way.
Finish joining the corners by adding rivets approximately 200-300mm apart.
You’ll find it easier to drill these corners if they are supported from the inside.
If your shed is going onto a concrete pad use the concrete floor clamps to fasten the shed to the floor using an electric drill and masonry bit. Storite also supply wooden floor packs.
Lower the roof into position and decide on how much overhang you want at the front. At the ends add rivets through the L flashings into the top channels of the walls.
Place more rivets at 300mm intervals.
On the roof add rivets at every second rib down into the top channel of the front and back.
