Wheat bags give you targeted warmth for sore muscles, cold feet or a chilly bed. Wheat bags heat in the microwave and release gentle warmth for 20 to 40 minutes. Compare shape, cover material and capacity to match how you plan to use the product.
Place the wheat bag in the centre of the microwave with a half-cup of water alongside (the water prevents scorching). Heat on medium power in 30-second bursts, turning the bag between bursts, until warm. Most wheat bags heat in 1 to 2 minutes total. Never heat a wheat bag on high power or for longer than the instructions specify, because the wheat can ignite.
Wheat bags deliver gentle, dry heat that conforms to your neck, shoulders or lower back, making them ideal for sore muscles. Hot water bottles hold heat longer (4 to 6 hours versus 20 to 40 minutes) and suit overnight warmth in bed. Many households keep both. Replace wheat bags that smell scorched and hot water bottles every two years, or when the rubber shows cracks.
