Fibre panel heaters use a woven carbon or mica fibre element behind a slim panel to deliver gentle, radiant-style warmth with very low surface temperatures. They suit bedrooms, nurseries and rooms with children or pets, where touch-safe heating matters. Compare wattage, thermostat, timer, wall-mount option and whether the heater includes Wi-Fi or app control.
A standard panel heater uses a metal convection element to warm air that rises over a large flat surface. Fibre panel heaters use a carbon or mica fibre element that radiates more heat directly to people and objects, with a lower surface temperature. That makes fibre panels safer to touch and a good choice for bedrooms, although warm-up time can be slower.
Fibre panel heaters typically run at lower surface temperatures than column or fan heaters, which reduces the burn risk if a child brushes against them. Wall-mounting raises the heater out of reach and prevents it being tipped over. Always follow the manufacturer's clearance guidelines, keep bedding and curtains clear, and never cover the panel or use it to dry clothes.
