Is it safe to leave an electric blanket on all night?

Most modern electric blankets are designed for overnight use and include thermostats and auto shut-off timers that switch the blanket off after a set period (often 1 to 10 hours). Use the blanket on a low setting once the bed is warm, and replace any blanket that is more than 10 years old, has frayed wiring, scorch marks or controllers that feel hot.

How do I wash an electric blanket?

Check the care label first. Most modern electric blankets are machine washable on a gentle cycle with cold water once the controller is disconnected. Air dry the blanket flat (never in a tumble dryer) and make sure it is completely dry before reconnecting the controller and using it. Never dry clean or iron an electric blanket.
