Mitre 10 Store and Supply Partner of the Year Awards 2024

Mitre 10 New Zealand named the best of the best amongst its store network and supply partner community at its 2024 Mitre 10 Awards dinner, held in Hamilton last night, Wednesday 31 July. 

The store awards recognise stores that provide a consistently excellent customer experience and a safe and supportive working environment for team members. Each category has two winners, a large format MEGA store, and a small format Mitre 10 store:

2024 Store of the Year

Mitre 10 MEGA Papanui 

Judges said Mitre 10 MEGA Papanui goes above and beyond to exceed customer expectations with their friendly, helpful, and innovative team. They have a world-class offer, with impressive  variety, quality, and presentation of ranges. The team is always trying new things to improve the business and the customer experience.

Mitre 10 Motueka

Judges said Mitre 10 Motueka sets the bar high for retail excellence, with passionate, knowledgeable, and customer-focused team members. Every department showcases the best products and displays, with impeccable attention to detail. The team goes the extra mile to engage with customers and offer solutions that meet their needs. This store is always adapting and improving, while keeping the customer at the heart of everything they do.

Trade Business of the Year

Scott & Ricketts Group (Mitre 10 MEGA Napier & Hastings)

Judges described the group as a deserving winner, having invested heavily in people and structure in the last year – Scott & Ricketts Group has a clear plan for growth and has demonstrated success in achieving key growth initiatives. The group opened a dedicated trade distribution centre earlier this year, significantly increasing capacity to support their trade customers. They are valued contributors to Mitre 10’s sustainability strategy and work programme, bringing industry knowledge and insights to continually improve how we support trade customers. 

Mitre 10 Levin 

Judges said Mitre 10 Levin was a deserving winner, having invested in people, process and the right range of building materials over the last year. Mitre 10 Levin has organised its business to allow for substantial growth and to better support our the core customer base, small to medium residential builders.

Garden Centre of the Year

Mitre 10 MEGA Napier

Judges said Mitre 10 MEGA Napier’s winning garden centre was a credit to their very passionate and engaged team and culture, with’ wow factor’ displays creating an inviting experience for their customers. The store's enthusiastic and dedicated team members exude a passion for their products, creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for customers.

Mitre 10 Waipukurau

Judges said Mitre 10 Waipukurau had that instant ‘wow factor’, a direct result of their focused and passionate garden team. Their enthusiasm and dedication members create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for customers, and utilises every available merchandising space in a creative, tasteful way

The Mitre 10 Supply Partner Awards recognise stand-out supply partners in Mitre 10’s key product categories:

Mitre 10 Building Products Supply Partner of the Year – Red Stag Timber

Judges acknowledged Red Stag Timber as a long-term strategic partner of Mitre 10. During the timber shortages of the Covid era, Red Stag showed their character and lived their values, consistently supporting Mitre 10 and, by extension, our customers. With years of consistent growth, Mitre 10 is grateful for our partnership with Red Stag, who have always lived their commitment to support and drive the business. 

Mitre 10 Home & Garden Supply Partner of the Year Award – Kiwicare

Judges recognised Kiwicare for consistently delivering full orders, providing robust store support, excelling in innovation and diligently working to introduce new products to the market. Strong relationships with stores, combined with an understanding of the importance of promotions in driving foot traffic and impactful market deals saw Kiwicare come on top.

Mitre 10 Showroom Supply Partner of the Year Award – Wattyl

Judges said Wattyl has gone from strength to strength, consistently supporting stores to an extremely high level and engaging and collaborating with Support Centre, resulting in strong growth within the paint category.  Wattyl goes above and beyond supporting its brands and exemplifies a true partnership. 

Mitre 10 Sustainability Award – Di Antonio

Judges were impressed with Di Antonio’s holistic view that it is vital for all parties involved in supply and consumption to reduce their environmental impact. From concept to execution, their continued focus on product improvements, plastic elimination and packaging reduction has significantly improved sustainability outcomes.  

Mitre 10 Innovation Award – bbi wood products

Judges said bbi embraces the spirit of innovation, driving customer choice by investing in and partnering with likeminded businesses to develop alternative  solutions in the building space. This award recognises a multi-year effort by the bbi team to develop market leading barrier solutions and partner with Mitre 10 to offer our customers greater choice.

Presenting the awards, Mitre 10 Chairman Andrew Smith said: “We are immensely proud of what you all do to support and grow our co-operative. The bar has been set very high and I want to acknowledge everyone here for your efforts and energy through the challenging trading conditions of the past 12 months.”
