At Mitre 10 we’ve always got a few projects on the go and most recently we’ve been getting stuck into laundry renovations. Hannah and Matt from Morningside, Auckland had a laundry in need of a spruce up, so with our building expert Stan Scott and Interior Stylist Liv Harper, we lent a hand to help them get sorted. Read on for the inside scoop on this project.

Who lives here? Hannah & Matt
Where is it? Morningside, Auckland
The biggest motivation for us to redo the laundry was having our wee girl. We have so much more washing going on, our whole laundry capacity has increased.
The lack of storage. We had these tiny shelves that we crammed everything on, and we had a sink that we threw everything into. There was no bench space and we had a little bucket in the corner that we stuffed shoes and brooms into.
It was a really small laundry forming part of our master bathroom, and it literally just had a small tub and a standalone washing machine, with nowhere to store anything. We don’t have a dryer and the tap in there had a pull-out but it had no reach and the pressure was useless.
It’s a nice, clean modern space, and has storage cupboards to keep things out of sight. Now that we have the laundry completed we’re happy to leave the doors open and let people see it rather than hide it away like we used to. It’s so much more user-friendly and everything we need is at our fingertips.
The biggest challenge was that it was such a small, confined space and Mitre 10 MEGA advised us on the smartest way to maximise it.
It’s got overhead storage space, which was really important for us because previously we had no storage at all. I really love the black tap which looks great in the laundry as well as being really practical.
