Project: Sunnynook Kindergarten Gets a Colourful Upgrade Thanks to this Helping Hands project

This Mitre 10 Helping Hands project is another fantastic example of Mitre 10 getting involved at the grassroots level to support communities across New Zealand.

In this case, members of the Mitre 10 Merchandise Team from the Support Centre rallied together to build four brand-new playboxes for Sunnynook Kindergarten in Auckland. The existing units had become unsafe and were in need of replacement. Leveraging the tools and talent available at Mitre 10’s Innovation Centre, the team designed and built the new playboxes from scratch. With additional support from BBI Wood Products and Good Wood Products, the project came to life through collaboration and community spirit.

Each playbox now stands boldly in bright, cheerful colours, bringing new life to the kindergarten’s outdoor space. Designed with built-in seating, they invite kids to gather, play, and rest—offering both fun and functionality.

With a strong commitment to making a tangible difference, Mitre 10 continues to step up and lend a hand where it's needed most.
