Helping Hand: Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby and Mitre 10 MEGA Papanui

Project: Create spaces that kids need and enjoy

Taking a stand against bullying, Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby & Papanui gave a helping hand to the students at Merrin School to paint a Friendship Seat - a seat for children to sit on if they are feeling lonely or sad. The team worked alongside year 4-8 students and their teachers, who enjoyed being part of the project to create a bright, colourful seat.

A month earlier, the team worked alongside more than 100 Hornby High School students to build and plant 14 winter vegetable gardens for the school’s community impact project.

Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby reached out to assist in Hornby High School’s Community Impact project. The goal? To teach year 7 & 8 students where their food comes from. The project consisted of 40 Hornby High students and 4 Mitre 10 team, and together we built 14 solid planter boxes, filling with compost and potting mix and finally planting the seedlings which the students grew from seeds in a propagator in the class room.
