Christmas Lights - Sorted

Decorating for Christmas is one of our favourite parts of the Christmas season and whether you’re into going all-out or a simpler look is your thing, we’ve got lots of handy advice that’ll ensure your decorating project runs smoothly and truly spreads some festive cheer.

Step 1

Plan your projects. Take a look around and decide what you want to decorate. Do you want to decorate indoors, outdoors or both, focus on the tree or jazz up the dining room ready for Christmas lunch? Also think about choosing a theme and note where your power points are.

Step 2

Stock up. We’ve got a whole host of Christmas decorations available in our Nouveau range which is in store and online now so be sure to check it out. It includes everything from trees and lights to anything you’d want for dressing up your living areas. We’ve also got all of the other cutlery, crockery and equipment you’ll need to turn your vision into reality.

Step 3

There’s something so nostalgic about Christmas lights - especially seeing trees and houses covered with bright colours - that makes you want to keep the Christmas tradition alive. We’ve got a great range of lights in store that will bring back wonderful Christmas memories, but without the hours of untangling and fixing broken circuits.

Bluetooth activated lights

The most recent addition to our range is the Bluetooth activated string lights that are controlled through a smartphone app.

You won’t have to worry about buying new lights to match this year’s Christmas decorations, as the app’s colour matching feature will change the lights to any colour you choose. They’ll even change their lighting sequence to match the beat of whatever song you’re playing, meaning you’re guaranteed to throw the best Christmas party with these around.

LED lighting

Not only are most sets of lights tangle proof these days, but they also feature LED bulbs that will last the distance without the hassle of dealing with blown bulbs. For interior lighting, LEDs are a fantastic option as they don’t emit heat to their surroundings so won’t pose a fire risk.

You also won’t have to stress about huge power bills caused by the life sized Santa and reindeer you erected on your roof because LEDs are more energy efficient. These are some great options for exterior LED lighting. Additionally, if you’re using exterior lights to really spread Christmas cheer, think about investing in some solar powered lights to help save even more on power. Consider investing in something like this for exterior decor, but remember, be a nice neighbour and turn off your lights before bed so as not to disturb others.

Garden lighting

If you’re planning on lighting up your garden, try out some net style string lights to get even coverage when lighting bushes. Or if you’re a bit braver and more seasoned, lighting up your trees is a great idea. Rope lights are great for spiralling up the trunk and then some string lights through the branches and foliage make a really awesome effect at night. When lighting trees make sure the branches you rest your ladder on can hold the weight.

Remember, when planning your lighting decide on whether the object should look good from every angle or just from the front. This will impact the metreage of lighting you will need to create the effect you are after.
