It was 1966 when Brian landed his first job with WH Collins & Co, the Ashburton hardware store that we now know as Mitre 10 MEGA Ashbuton. Almost 58 years later, he’s one of the longest serving team member’s in Mitre 10 history. Known for his cheeky banter, extensive product knowledge and commitment to customer service, there’s no question why he’s a favourite among colleagues and customers alike.
Simon Lye, Managing Director at Mitre 10 MEGA Ashburton, says: “Brian’s customer service has been incredible over the years. He’s built up a huge base of loyal customers who call in to see him specifically. He genuinely cares for people around him and loves people interaction. His friendly personality backed up with a positive outlook on life has been a great influence on the team culture over the years. He’s a highly valued employee.”
These days, he might have dialled down his working days at Mitre 10 from five to three days, but for the fit and sprightly 73-year-old, he’s top of the chain when it comes to solving customers’ queries. Brian says his motto for good customer service is to “Treat everyone as an individual. Take a genuine interest in what they do and take time to get to know them.”
No one can say Brian didn’t take the time to get to know his customers. We’d like to thank him for his dedication to his work over the last few decades. Brian is a true legend and we’re grateful he chose to be part of our family.
