Amber Gladwin started at Mitre 10 in 1983. Joining the nationwide Support Centre in its early days, Amber has had a unique view of the business as it’s grown and evolved over the last 40 years. Amber has worked under every Mitre 10 CEO, helped open numerous stores, rolled out technology and branding updates, and witnessed at least one photocopier catch fire.

Currently on the Master Data team, having been part of the Merchandising team since 1984, Amber’s created an incredible legacy for herself. Friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to lend a hand, she’s a beloved and reliable fixture not just of the Support Centre, but to many of the longstanding team members around the country.

“People often ask me, ‘how can you stay in one job for that long’” she says, “I tell them that ‘I haven’t stayed in one job for that long, I’ve had multiple jobs, multiple roles, the only thing that hasn’t changed is who pays the wages.’”

Despite 40 years with the same company, Amber says she’s never been short of opportunities to learn and grow. “I’ve never worked in another country, but I’ve worked with people who have brought incredible international experience into the business, and I’ve learned so much from those people that I’ve never felt like I needed to be anywhere else.”

Epitomising the Mitre 10 values, Amber’s dedication to good outcomes for our team members and customers is at the forefront of everything she does. “Our business thrives on exceptional customer service from our amazing staff, and I’ve always felt it’s a privilege to be part of that and to be able to provide some of that service excellence.”

“It doesn’t feel like it’s been 40 years, and sometimes I think I need to pinch myself a little bit. It surprises me, I think because I’ve seen so many people come and go, you don’t really feel the impact you’ve made on their life, but when I think about the impact that people I’ve worked with have had on my life, I realise it’s huge. That’s one of the reasons why you stay somewhere. It’s because it’s somewhere that you want to be, where you feel safe and supported, and where you have something to give.”

We thank Amber for all she’s given in her tenure at Mitre 10, her boundless knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to making this business what it is today. We’re proud to call her our team-mate.
