The Japanese Yew Pine is a relative of our own Totara and will grow into a handsome specimen tree over time. Growth is slow and the tree has a dense bushy pyramidal habit when young. New foliage emerges pale green in the spring changing to a rich dark green by summer.
Ideal specimen feature tree or street tree.
Can be trimmed as a hedge or screen or shaped into topiary forms.
Podocarpus macrophyllus tolerates a wide range of growing conditions and soil types and will maintain its deep green lush foliage all year without fuss. The yew pine has long been prized as a topiary subject and responds well to trimming or shaping.
