Bathroom Heating & Ventilation

Bathroom Heating and Ventilation at Mitre 10

A warm, well-ventilated bathroom stays mould-free and comfortable year-round. The range covers bathroom heaters, exhaust fans, three-in-one heat-light-fan units, ducting and wall vents. Good ventilation removes the steam generated by showers, while targeted heating keeps winter mornings bearable. All bathroom heating and ventilation wiring must be installed by a registered electrician.

How do I stop mould in the bathroom?

Run your exhaust fan during every shower and for at least 20 minutes afterwards to remove the moisture that mould needs to grow. Open a window or use a dehumidifier on damp days. Wipe down tiles and glass after showering, check the fan ducts to outside (not the roof space), and address any leaks in taps, seals or the roof promptly.

Do I need both a heater and an exhaust fan in the bathroom?

Yes. A heater warms the bathroom but does nothing to remove moisture, while an exhaust fan removes moisture but does not keep you warm. The simplest way to get both is a three-in-one heat-light-fan unit, which combines a heat lamp or ceramic element, overhead light and exhaust fan into one ceiling-mounted fitting controlled by separate switches.
