Add a touch of unqiueness to your home garden with the Cape Gooseberry. It's easy to grow and fruits well in a pot. It can be used as a border plant where the soft grey-green foliage can be used to offset other species. It's also a great border filler, where the fruit can be accessed and freely eaten. Plant in early Spring and the gooseberries will be ready to harvest in December through to June. In colder climates the harvests will occur annually and in warmer climates perennially.
The lantern dries when fruit is ripe. The skin of the fruit is waxy. Pulp is juicy with many tiny edible seeds.
- Harvest from December through to June (or until the first frosts).
- Great eating fresh, dipped in melted chocolate or fondant icing.
- Plant in full sun.
- Vitamins A, C & B, high in protein and rich in iron.

It’s always easiest to return your product to the store you got it from, but you can return it to any Mitre 10 store. If you prefer to courier your product back to us, just check your invoice to see which store dispatched your order and that’s where you send it back to.
We will refund to your original payment method where possible or, if you prefer, we can issue you a Mitre 10 Gift Card for the sum equal to the cost of the product excluding handling and any delivery or returns costs.
If you return products which were purchased in full or part using Airpoints Dollars™ and choose to have your purchase refunded, we’ll refund you in the same proportion of Airpoints Dollars™ and other payment types that were used for the original payment.
Faulty Goods
If a problem occurs with a product purchased from Mitre 10, bring it back to us with your proof of purchase. We will either repair, replace or provide you with a refund, as set out in the Consumer Guarantees Act.
