Dahlias bring life and beauty to any garden in summer, with a multitude of different eye catching colours and uniquely shaped blooms in a range of sizes. They love sun so choose a nice sunny spot in your garden. Ideally a spot that gets at least 4 hours of full sun a day. Dahlias will grow in almost any soil, but prefer well drained loamy soil conditions. They flower for months from early summer to early autumn.
Leave dahlia tubers attached, do not pull them apart, or cut the tubers, just plant each clump of tubers intact, spreading them out in the hole, with the eyes facing up. Plant dahlia tubers 10-15cm inches deep, 45-60cm apart, depending upon the mature size of the plant. Dwarf dahlias that grow up to 30cm tall should be 30cm apart. 90cm tall dahlias, should be planted 45cm apart. Give dinner plate dahlias a full 50-75cm spacing between plants. Position the stakes or support structures at the time you plant your dahlia tubers.

Orders under 25kg are $8.00 to Metro areas and $13.50 to Rural* areas.
Surcharges may apply for multiple items, or based on the size, weight or any special handling requirements. This is required to make sure your order reaches you safely. Final shipping costs will be calculated and displayed at checkout. Alternatively the store may contact you to make other delivery arrangements.
If multiple items are ordered and are available within different timeframes, we may deliver the items separately. If this is the case you will not incur any extra delivery cost.
*For parcel orders, rural delivery addresses are as defined by New Zealand Post address data.

No Hassle Returns
We are happy to exchange or refund any unopened and unused, non-customised items returned to us in their original condition and packaging, including all accessories and the invoice or delivery docket, within 28 days. Customised products, which include products cut, made-to-measure, special order or mixed to specific requirements, cannot be refunded or exchanged.
It’s always easiest to return your product to the store you got it from, but you can return it to any Mitre 10 store. If you prefer to courier your product back to us, just check your invoice to see which store dispatched your order and that’s where you send it back to.
We will refund to your original payment method where possible or, if you prefer, we can issue you a Mitre 10 gift card for the sum equal to the cost of the product excluding handling and any delivery or returns costs.
Faulty Goods
If a problem occurs with a product purchased from Mitre 10 please contact us. We will arrange for it to be repaired or replaced, or provide a refund as specified by the Consumer Guarantees Act.
