The telescoping pole does not stay extended. There's no locking system (you can try to twist it hard but you will fail) so it slides right back in (and/or rotates at the business end) at the least convenient times. I haven't tried sawing with it but you couldn't possibly do that - it would collapse on every push stroke.
The rope is tied to a piece of metal with sharp edges which will slice through the rope in no time. Mine has about half an hour of use and the rope is showing noticeable signs of fraying.
Overall it got the job done today, and it is nice and light unlike some of the others in store. But with the pole collapsing every few cuts, and very dubious longevity of the rope, this is not an acceptable product for the price. I'll be returning it and going for either the cheapest model available (can't be much worse) or the most expensive model available (the $199 Fiskars bad boy does actually look and feel very high quality).

This was my first time buying one of these, and I came to this having first purchased a cheaper model by another brand – it failed, this one didn’t. You can spend more if you want to, if you have a lot of trees etc but as an entry level piece of equipment it is sharp and strong while being relatively light and easy to use. Fiskars is a significant brand which means they have a good online presence should you want it. Recommend.
