Plastic timber wrap tends to leave a lot of plastic to manage. Even when you’ve got a waste management plan and dedicated bins, these covers can take up a lot of space quickly. The worst part is not all wrap is recyclable. Thankfully, we’ve got a couple of ways we can help. By opting out of plastic timber wrap or choosing reusable covers, you can skip filling up your plastic bin every time you get timber delivered.
Opting out of our plastic wrap eliminates an entire waste stream, and avoiding it from the get-go is far easier than managing it on-site. Taking this route will help you meet your sustainability goals without requiring any more work from you or your team. It’s a win-win.
All you need to opt out is to check the box on the Tradehub checkout page before you confirm your order. Look for the box marked “reducing unnecessary packaging” just below the section where you choose your delivery details. Check the “no” box, and we’ll deliver without the plastic. If your order is set to be delivered during bad weather, your local store will contact you about options.
Sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate and it’s best to use a cover to keep your timber in top shape for the job. Our reusable covers are the best, most sustainable option in this scenario. We developed these with Naylor Love and Unitec with funding from Auckland Council’s Waste Minimisation and Innovation Fund.
These covers are durable, designed to fit, and will keep your materials safe from the weather time and time again. Eventually, the cover will need to be replaced, but the good news is, it’s completely recyclable. Instead of single-use wraps that may or may not be recyclable, this one will serve you again and again and even when it’s no longer useful, it won’t end up in a landfill.
