Mitre 10 Sponsorships
We're proudly supporting Kiwis and their communities.
Since 1991, Mitre 10 has supported the Neurological Foundation – the country’s principal non-profit organisation dedicated to funding research into disorders of the brain and nervous system.
Each year Mitre 10 makes possible the Neurological Foundation’s Annual Appeal which is the organisation’s key fundraising drive. This support is much needed as about 98% of the Foundation’s funds come from donations and bequests from New Zealanders.
With one in five New Zealanders affected by a brain disorder in their lifetime Mitre 10 believes continuing to search for answers to these neurological issues is crucial. Investing in a healthy future is a valuable way to give back to our customers and the communities throughout New Zealand that have supported our business for years.
Mitre 10 is a category sponsor of the Community of the Year Award, as part of the New Zealander of the Year Awards. The Mitre 10 Community of the Year Award acknowledges groups or organisations working together to build better communities. A community is only a community when people work together. This award serves as recognition and a thank you for the dedication, fellowship and partnership that a locally implemented activity has created leading to a positive, sustainable, environmental or social benefit to the community.
As a locally owned and operated business, Mitre 10 has strong roots in communities nationwide and believes it is important to give back to the communities that have supported us through the years.
Trade is a big part of Mitre 10’s business and Mitre 10 Trade sponsors James 'Huggi' Urquhart and the Wildcard Racing team to compete in the New Zealand V8 Ute Championships.

Official supplier to Takahē Recovery
Mitre 10 is the official supplier to the Department of Conservation’s (DOC) Takahē Recovery Programme.
The takahē is an iconic New Zealand species that is listed as critically endangered, and as such it needs ongoing protection to ensure its survival.
As a proudly New Zealand owned and operated company, we are committed to helping DOC save this bird to ensure it remains a part of our culture for future generations of New Zealander’s, as we believe it is a part of what makes New Zealand unique.
We’ve been supporting the Department of Conservation’s Takahē Recovery Programme since 2005, and over the years have helped grow the takahē population through helping DOC to:
- Purchase incubators for hatching at the Burwood Takahē Centre at Te Anau.
- Construct new holding pens and enclosures so chicks can grow to a size that improves their chances of survival once they are released back into the wild.
- Develop vaccination and disease risk screening programmes to prevent illness in takahē.
- Improve the monitoring and control of takahē predators particularly stoats.
- Upgrade breeding units at the Burwood Takahē Centre.
- Move takahē to safe predator free islands – Kapiti, Maud, Mana, Tiritiri Matangi and Motutapu.
