Lily Double Asiatic 'Double Sensation' Pack of 1 Red/White
Asiatic Lilies are the hardiest of all lilies, early-blooming, colourful, and vigorous. Colours range from the softest pastels to fiery reds and oranges that practically ignite in the sun. Blooms vary from simple open bowls to exquisite recurved flowers. Their straight stems and high bud count make them superb cut flowers.
Double Sensation is a unique variety with flowers that can be red and cream or red and green, you never know which you are going to get, it depends on how hot it is when they open.
Verystrong stems which can be over a metre when the bulbs are established.
flowers mid June to early July.
Start by picking a spot to plant. Lilies prefer a moist well-drained soil year-round and full sun to light shade. Flowering will be affected if the bulbs dry out. Enrich the soil with peat, compost or well-rotted organic material. This will help retain soil moisture and improve drainage. Dig a hole approximately 15cm deep or to a depth three times the bulb's diameter. Water in well in heavy clay soils where drainage is poor, or where roots from surrounding trees and shrubs are a problem, plant bulbs in raised beds. Adding Gypsum to the planting hole will improve its drainage. Lilies flower from November through to March. As your lily grows tall you may need to tie it to a stake to help keep the flower and stem growing upright.
