Leeston resident Neville Noel Craythorne is now the proud owner of a brand new Toyota Hilux SR5 after being drawn as the winner in the Mitre 10 Summer of DIY competition.
This year’s competition received a record number of entrants nationwide, with all customers who shopped at any Mitre 10 store from December 26 to February 8 eligible to go into the draw simply by making a purchase.
With such a large number of entrants, Mr Craythorne (known as Noel to his friends) was thrilled to find himself the winner of a new double cab truck after shopping at Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby.
“I got the shock of my life” Noel said. “When they called to tell me I had won something I thought it would be a fifty dollar voucher. When they said it was big I thought maybe a 100 dollar voucher.”
A seasoned angler, Noel says the new truck will definitely come in handy for heading up to his fishing spot on the Rakaia River.
“It’ll be useful alright, I do a lot of fishing and it’ll save me having to use the quad bike.”
Mitre 10 General Manager Marketing Dave Elliott was pleased with the strong response to the competition.
“It’s fantastic to see so many Kiwis getting stuck into their DIY projects this summer,” Mr Elliott said. “As New Zealand’s home of DIY we’re happy to be a part of those projects and adding some excitement to our customers’ purchases with this competition was a great bonus.”
Mitre 10 MEGA Hornby General Manager, Liam Pawson, was pleased to see a shopper from his store take the spoils.
“I’m really happy for Noel and his wife Nita,” Mr Pawson said. “It’s the perfect vehicle for heading out fishing, going on an adventure or carting about materials for Noel’s next DIY project so I’m sure they’ll get great use out of it.”
