Tawharanui open sanctuary society
The Tawharanui Open Sanctuary Society (TOSSI) was formed in 2002 to help make the open sanctuary project a reality. The sanctuary is a unique blend of conservation, recreation and sustainable farming within Tawharanui Regional Park. The open sanctuary includes mature and regenerating native bush, wonderful beaches, spectacular coastal cliffs, wetlands, heritage sites, a marine park and extensive areas of rich pasture. Thanks to TOSSI species have returned to breed or been re-introduced to the sanctuary including kiwi, pateke, kakariki, bellbirds, robins, kaka and whiteheads. Recently 10 takahe were introduced to Tawharanui which are the first takahe to be released on the mainland in Auckland. This marks a huge step forward for takahe recovery efforts.

Omaha Beach Golf Club
Bordered by the sea on one side and a natural estuary on the other, it is a course that offers some unique and pleasant surprises as you travel around it; a Totara Grove adjacent to one hole, a stand of Kaihikatea providing shelter to a boardwalk that delivers you to another, and with the estuary itself providing a new landscape, and challenge, as you progress around the course.Significant work has gone into Omaha over the last five years to deliver a near all seasons course that is now gaining growing recognition for its stunning beauty as much as its challenges for all levels of golfer.
