National home improvement retailer Mitre 10 has nailed $150,000 in relief funds for the Canterbury Earthquake Appeal and will hand over the money on Monday (February 14).

The hardware chain ran a multi-pronged campaign late last year to get the dollars rolling in from its customers, owner operators, staff and suppliers.

“We wanted to make it as easy as possible for those in our network, and New Zealanders generally, to help their fellow Kiwis in the Canterbury region,” said Mitre 10 Chief Executive Officer John Hartmann.

“We chose to work with The Salvation Army as they already had a close relationship with many of our stores and would ensure the funds were distributed to best support the people of Canterbury.”

Hartmann said there had been an incredible response to the appeal, with the top five Mitre 10 fundraisers being Glenfield Mega, Nelson Mega, Petone Mega, Warkworth Mitre 10 and Albany Mega.

Andrew Cochrane, Mitre 10’s General Manager Trade will present the $150,000 to Clive Nicholson, the Salvation Army’s Southern Region Divisional Commander at 11am on Monday, February 14, at the Linwood Community Ministries at 177 Linwood Avenue, Christchurch. Media are welcome to attend.
