Williamson can be very proud of his efforts in securing this honour as being the best One Day cricketer in the competition, in what is just his second season at this level.
Williamson's commanding lead on the MVP points table was an important component of the Northern Knights late charge to the Domestic One Day title. The 19 year old has proven his ability in the short form of the game with outstanding contributions to the Knights top order batting and being more than effective with his off spin bowling.
Williamson was able to top the Mitre10 table despite some excellent performances by quality players in opposing teams. Upon receiving the prize Williamson stated "the Mitre10 MVP is something i am obviously very proud of, however it would not have amounted to much if we had not been able to secure the win in the final on Sunday"
