Victory Village, comprising Victory Community Health Centre and Victory Primary School, is a unique example of a community-based support group achieving positive health, social and educational outcomes.

After evolving from a number of health and social services operating randomly out of school meeting rooms in a disadvantaged area of Nelson, Victory Village and the wider Victory community have gone on to attract national attention.

Bailey Clouston’s ‘ Inquisitive Takahe’ has won the Mitre 10 Takahe Rescue Kids Art Competition out of over 5,000 entries nationwide. 

Bailey a ten year old first time entrant can now look forward to shouting his family an exciting Takahe Wilderness trip to Te Anau with Department of Conservation (DOC) rangers as their host.

Sixteen juvenile takahe have been released into an extensively trapped area in the Murchison Mountains, Fiordland National Park.

Over the past month Mitre 10 Mega stores across the country have held a series of DIY Ladies Nights that have raised over $100,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Trust.

Mitre 10 has been running the Takahe Art Competition for the past 5 years open to all primary schools in New Zealand with a trip to visit the Takahe Breeding Unit in Te Anau as a first prize. However, after finding out more about the school at Ronald McDonald House in Auckland, Mitre 10 decided to ensure that this school could also become part of the Takahe Rescue Art competition with prizes tailored to suit its students.
