MEGAWALK SUNDAY 9TH NOVEMBER 2014
This is a social event designed to get people out for a walk along the Rotary Pathway, there will be prizes for each man and woman who comes first and second in The MEGA and HB Today HALF MEGA who enter The Hogs Breath Cafe Challenge. Only participants who enter The Challenge will be timed.
All proceeds raised will again go to CanTeen and be put towards the wonderful activities and camps they provide for their members. In the last 3 years we have been supporting CanTeen with this event we have raised over $50,000! These funds have gone into the vital services that CanTeen offers young people living with cancer and their families. Learn more about CanTeen here.
We have designed 4 events to cater to all fitness levels and physical abilties. We have a varied array of participants from the very young to the young at heart and the finely tuned athletes to those with physical challenges who have inspired us and shown great determination in completing the event.
The MEGA is a 28km run or walk. The event starts at Mitre 10 MEGA, Hastings at 7.30am. Participants will follow a clearly defined route through Hastings to the Showgrounds. The course then heads towards Whakatu before joining the Rotary Pathway at Pakowhai Park, adjacent to the Chesterhope Bridge. It then follows the Pathway to Ahuriri. The finishline is at Mitre 10 MEGA Napier. To be professionally timed you must register in the Hogs Breath Cafe Challenge.
The HB Today Half MEGA is a 15km run or walk that starts at Awatoto- opposite the southern end of the Fertiliser Works- at 9.00am. This event also follows the Rotary Pathway and finishes at Mitre 10 MEGA Napier. To be professionally timed you must register in the Hogs Breath Challenge

The Hogs Breath Cafe Challenge. All entrants in The Challenge will be professionally timed and eligible for fantastic prizes for 1st and 2nd Man and Woman in The MEGA and HB Today HALF MEGA. You will also recieve the standard event pack.
Event Pack. All entrants will receive a Hi-Vis vest and a CanTeen bandanna as part of the entry fee. If you already have a vest from previous years please reuse, this helps keep costs down and more funds go to CanTeen. The packs also contain a 150gm Tropical Fast & Fruity, coupons and vouchers from Shoe Clinic, Burger King, and other local businesses. These will be available to pick up when you register instore from 1st October or for online entrants from your nomiated store from Friday 1st November.
This year we are adding a fundraising element to the event based on feedback we recieved last year. You can get your family and friends to sponsor you in your chosen event. All you have to do is tick the box on the registration form. We will email you an official fundraising form and then you can start signing up supporters. 100% of the funds you raise will go to CanTeen Hawkes Bay. We will follow up with fundraisers following the event or you can drop your collection into the service desk of either MEGA.
We also have an option for schools to raise valuable funds. If your school enters a team in the Megawalk and also chooses the fundraising option CanTeen will split the funds with you. 60% will go to CanTeen and 40% will go back to your school. This option is only available to school teams with 10+ members who register together as one team. If your school is interested in this option we can send you out a promotioanl pack with flyers and regisration forms. Contact Kerry for more information on 8729410.

We recommend a suitable level of fitness and quality footware (not jandals!) for entrants in the MEGA. The 28km walk can take 4.5 to 5.5 hours to complete, depending on your level of fitness, so start your training program now! The team at The Shoe Clinic can help you organise the right shoes for the event.
You need to bring your own drink bottle. There will be refreshment stops with water filling facilities and toilets at regular intervals.
Due to the large number of people on the walkway we request no dogs or bikes on the course.
