DampRid - The original non-electric moisture absorber, prevents damage caused from excess moisture.

Damprid Moisture Absorber Prevents Mould

DampRid pellets absorb moisture from the air. Mildew and mould require moisture to flourish. Without a moist environment, mould and mildew cannot grow.

DampRid controls humidity (excess moisture) to an ideal and safe level. DampRid will not dry the air out to a level that damages plants, animals or clothing. Once the optimal level is reached, 40-50% relative humidity, DampRid slows down and will restart when necessary.

How does DampRid Work?

Once the white pellets are exposed to the air, the pellets absorb excess moisture and liquefy into a brine (salt solution).

Refillable Damprid Room Fresheners

The Refillable Room Freshener is a non-electric moisture absorber that protects against damage caused by excess moisture. They absorb musty odours caused by stagnant air and creates fresher, healthier air.

- The White pellets last approximately 3-4 weeks*
- Refillable.
- Unscented, non-toxic, septic safe and friendly to the environment.
- Collected liquid will not re-evaporate (unlike electric dehumidifiers).

How the Refillable Room Freshener Works

Week 1*

Excess moisture is absorbed into the white pellets. The white pellets will begin to harden and form a solid mass. You may see liquid dripping into the bottom of the container.

Week 2*

Excess moisture will most likely be dripping in the bottom of the container. The bottom of the container will be about 1/2 - 3/4 full of liquid. Approximately 1/2 - 3/4 of the white pellets will be gone.

Week`s 3 & 4*

During these weeks all of the white pellets will liquefy and the bottom of the container will be full of liquid. At this time empty the collected liquid into the sink (with running water) or toilet.

Use a DampRid Refill to top up your Refillable Room Freshener following the directions on the pack.

Hanging Closet Freshener

The Hanging Closet Freshener is a disposable, non-electric moisture absorber. It is combined with a fresh scent to protect against damage caused by excess moisture. The Hanging Closet Freshener absorbs musty odours caused by stagnant air and creates fresher, healthier air.

- White pellets last approximately 4-6 weeks*
- Absorbs up to one quart of excess moisture.
- Non-toxic, septic safe and friendly to the environment.

How the Hanging Closet Freshener Works

Week 1*

Excess moisture is absorbed into the white pellets. The white pellets will begin to harden and form a solid mass. You may not see liquid dripping into the lower chamber at this stage.

Week 2 & 3*

Excess moisture will most likely be dripping in the lower chamber. The lower chamber will be about 1/2 full of liquid. Approximately 1/2 of the white pellets will be gone.

Week`s 4, 5 & 6*

During these weeks all of the white pellets will liquefy and the lower chamber will be full of liquid. You will still see a small line of yellow freshener beads in the top chamber of the Hanging Closet Freshener. At this time discard the entire Hanging Closet Freshener and replace with a new one.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have been using DAMPRID for years and this has never happened before. Why are the white pellets hard?
The white pellets are calcium chloride, which is a non-toxic inorganic salt product. As with all salt-based products as they begin to absorb moisture they harden. The DampRid is acting like a moisture magnet pulling the moisture from the air and trapping it in the lower chamber of the product. Also, the round pellets have more surface area than the white flake we used before. Because the pellets can solidify, they will last longer. Please do not break-up the pellets, as it is no longer necessary.

Why are ice crystals in the lower chamber of the product?
Sometimes this is caused by a sudden change in temperature. Other times, it may be caused by a change in humidity. If you are having problems getting rid of the crystals in the lower chamber of the container, simply run water over the ice crystal until the ice formation dissolves.

My DAMPRID product is changing colour, is there something wrong?
No. There is nothing wrong with the DampRid product you purchased, or your home. The discoloration is caused by trace mineral deposits that are found in calcium chloride.

If no moisture is present in the bottom container, does this mean something is wrong with my DAMPRID container?
If the white pellets are hard, it is probably ready to release the absorbed moisture into the bottom container. Please be patient. Eventually, the moisture will sweat into the bottom chamber of the product. This will take up to two months, sometimes longer, depending on how much moisture is in the air.

What does this mean: `avoid metal & leather` on the container?
DampRid is a salt product. If the absorbed moisture comes in physical contact with metal for a long period of time it will corrode. If the absorbed liquid comes in physical contact with the leather, it will absorb the moisture in the leather leaving it hard and wrinkled.

How do I dispose of the pellets and/or the absorbed moisture?
The pellets are water-soluble. To dispose of the absorbed moisture, simply flush the absorbed moisture down the toilet.

How many DAMPRID containers should I use?
This depends upon how much moisture is present and this can vary by location. Since the presence of musty odours indicates a mildew/moisture problem, we suggest you use one DampRid unit per 100 square feet. If the white pellets are completely gone before a three-week period, add another unit.

What do I do if I accidentally spill some of the collected liquid?
It is recommended to use a wet/dry vacuum or towel to remove as much of the liquid as you can. Continue to pour regular tap water on to the spill to dilute the concentration of the liquid. If you do not dilute or clean the spot, the spilled liquid will continue to absorb excess moisture and the spot may get larger.
