Step 1: Introduction
For a suggestion on the ratio that you need to use of cement, builders mix and sand. Please refer to A Guide to Using Concrete
You can buy cement and builders mix from Mitre 10 Home and Trade and Mitre 10 MEGA stores.
Step 2: Clear the Mixer
Flush the inside of the mixer with clean water and allow to drain.
Step 3: Add Water
Place approximately half the quantity of water into the mixer.
Step 4: Add Some Builders Mix
Place 3/4 of the quantity of builders mix in the mixer.
Step 5: Add Cement
Place the whole quantity of cement in the mixer.
Step 6: Add Remaining Builders Mix
Place the remaining builders mix in the mixer.
Step 7: Mix
Mix for 2-3 minutes, slowly adding the remaining water as required to produce a mix of the required consistency. Test by stopping the mixer and using a small trowel of concrete to see how workable the concrete is.
Note: In wet weather up to four litres less water may be required. In dry weather up to two litres more water may be required.
Step 8: Clean
Thoroughly clean all tools and the mixer after use.
