Gripset User Guide
Surface Preparation
Good thorough surface preparation plays a vital role in the long term success of the Gripset application. When preparing surfaces, ensure the area is:
- Clean and free of dust, dirt and any loose foreign particles
- Free of oil, grease, wax and soap residues
- Free of rust. Treat remaining rust with a rust converter
- Fee of sharp protruding points.
- In a structurally sound and safe condition
- Not left in a shiny smooth condition. Either lightly sand or etch to enhance bonding.
These surface preparations guidelines must be followed before applying any Gripset membrane or coating.
Primer
For Gripset 38 and Gripset RD applications, brush/roller total area with Gripset GP primer.
For Gripset 51 applications a primer can be formed by diluting Gripset 51 with water at a 1:3 ratio (for porous surfaces) or at a 1:1 ratio (for non porous and bitumen/asphalt surfaces). Gripset GP primer is also compatible with Gripset 51 applications.
Ensure primer covers the total area to be treated and allow to dry before membrane application.
Please read directions on Gripset product packaging carefully before using the product.
