Have a ten your old beach house with unpainted fibrolite cladding. Do I need to seal or undercoat before painting colour? If so what should I use?
Response from Mitre 10: 1) You`ll need to clean the fibrolite cladding before you start painting. One option is to use a product called 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner and apply it according to the manufacturers directions on the packaging.
2) Once the fibrolite is clean and dry, apply Dulux Primercryl. This will act as a sealant/primer.
3) After that you can apply Selleys No More Gaps Weatherboard between the fibrolite strips. This product is specifically designed for use on weatherboards.
4) Once this is dry you can apply Weathershield X10. This is available in 3 different sheens - low sheen, semi gloss or gloss. You would need to select the sheen that best appeals to you.
